Yamaha SS, ZS and ZSR Feeder Supply Solutions

Yamaha SS, ZS and ZSR feeders are automatic-loading electric feeders designed for Yamaha YS, YSM and YRM series placement machines. They share the same feeder interface and are compatible with Yamaha placement machines equipped with carrier-tape cutting units. Optional IT functions can also be added for error-prevention and pre-set notifications.

The SS​ is Yamaha’s earlier standard automatic-loading electric feeder. It is suitable for the YS12, YS24 and YSM series, supporting carrier tapes from 8mm to 72mm.

The ZS​ is an upgraded automatic-loading feeder with a wider carrier-tape range, including an 88mm version. It is compatible with the YS, YSM and YRM series.

The ZSR​ is designed mainly for high-speed placement heads and high-productivity machines such as the YSM40R-RS, YSM10, YSM20R, YRM10 and YRM20R. It is commonly used for 8mm tape applications.

Yamaha official documentation states that SS, ZS and ZSR feeders share a common interface and are compatible with YS, YSM and YRM placement machines equipped with tape-cutting units. ZS and ZSR feeders can support the high-speed operation of the YSM40R-RS head and allow feeder replacement during machine operation.

Yamaha automatic-loading feeders use an automatic-tape-supply structure, allowing operators to replenish components while the machine is running. The carrier-tape loading time is approximately five seconds, from the start of tape feeding to preparation for component pickup.

• No conventional splice-tape splicing;

• A center-cutting design that helps reduce static electricity during cover-tape separation;
