In response to potential tariffs announced by US President-elect Donald Trump, Google is reportedly accelerating moves to shift production from China to Vietnam, in line with the "China +1" strategy adopted by many companies amid trade tensions between the two countries. This strategy marks Vietnam as an emerging key player in Google's production space, especially for the Pixel 10 smartphone line, which is expected to be released in 2025. Industry sources said Vietnam will be responsible for the assembly of Google's standard Pixel 10 models as well as Pro and XL models. In the past, Google's release schedule was to launch Pixel A series models in the first half of the year, and launch flagship models in the second half of the year. According to this timeline, the Pixel 9a and Pixel 10 series have already gone into production in Vietnam, indicating a significant shift in Google's manufacturing approach. At the same time, component procurement is consistent, aiming to avoid tariffs on final assembly locations. Previously, it was announced that the Google Pixel 10 series will be equipped with the Tensor G5 chip, which will be manufactured using TSMC's latest 3nm process and use TSMC InFO-POP advanced packaging technology. The Tensor G6, which supports the Pixel 11 series, will also be manufactured by TSMC, using the latest 2nm process.
